A Good Day
... is when:
+ you wake up hungry and get to have Dunkin' Donuts for breakfast (courtesy of Aileen who just flew back from Auckland the night before);
+ you find no pimples in embarrassing positions on your face;
+ you pull out your Old English Literature notes and have just became the owner of a spankin' brand new copy of Sweet's Anglo-Saxon Reader, and can't wait for your first class in ENGL 321 Old English - Old English Rocks (so does Christine)!;
+ you do nothing all day but read (Lesbianisn Made Easy, Dating Dead Men, and 'The Knight's Tale');
+ you finally gather up your courage and checked your results for the last trimester ... and discover you actually made an A- (!) for ENGL 315 Restoration and Eighteenth-Century Literature and a B+ (!!) for LING 323 Psycholinguistics!;
+ you buy a copy of Ocean's Eleven (Soderbergh's) for just $19.95!;
+ you end it with a farewell-dinner at Vista Cafe of: entrées - Thai style fish cakes (not bad) and steamed mussels with garlic, parsley, lemon and white wine (YUM!); mains: high country salmon, and everybody else had the fish of the day, lamb rump, and oxtail which, according to Alwyn, was really good - and coming from a foodie such as Alwyn, is really high praise indeed); desserts: chocolate tiramisu and vanilla bean brulée.
Overall damage for four: a little over $150, which, admittedly, is a little high for the size of the portions - and for poor students like us ... but what the hell; it's good food and a farewell-dinner, and you live only once (plus, you didn't fail Psycholinguistics!).
