Gotta Lay Off The Apples
I wonder if I'm stressed - or, at least, worried - about my final papers tomorrow and on Friday. These two nights, I've been having weird dreams (not that most dreams aren't already weird in themselves) and sleeping so lightly that I sorta slip into a vague consciousness in-between the various dream segments (and, oye, there are always more than a couple of them).
The night before last:
One segment I particularly remember is being in NUS, watching (or, I should think, being forced to watch) a fashion show. I remember talking to Valerie, an ex-ADM coursemate, during the show, and whispering to somebody else, "Oh my god, that's Isaac, my senior!"
Isaac, who had in fact been my senior during my ADM days, was sorta coordinating the show or something - he might have been the choreographer. I can't remember much about the show beyond the fact that the pieces on show were hideous. Somebody was trying too hard to imitate Rei Kawakubo and Junko Watanabe, I think - and really badly too; I don't think I've ever seen a fuglier or less tastefully deconstructed piece.
Why this dream is weird:
1) NUS: I've never in my life been to NUS;
2) fashion show: it's been at least four years since I last attended a fashion show (amateur or professional);
3) Isaac: I never knew Isaac personally back in my ADM days (although as a freshie, I found him sexy - in a vaguely swishy sorta way - especially when he dances);
4) Valerie: she was more of an acquaintance than a friend even though we did spend two to three years in the same class; and finally,
5) I've sworn off anything related to fashion since my graduation from ADM - and that was four years ago.
Last night:
One of the segments had been that I flew and landed a chopper by the roadside (kinda parallel-parked it), jumped off, and casually went in search of the company I'd rented it from.
Then the segment that took place just before I woke up (for good) was being in a line at a breakfast buffet - I was searching for a croissant but took a chocolate chocolate-chip scone.
When I left the line, there was a guy waiting for me. Now that I think about it, that guy might have been Liam - or somebody that seemed like Liam, with the cap and dreads. We went to my table which already had some food items on it. I climbed up my chair (which was quite tall) and centered a plate of fried rice (my scone had disappeared) in front of me as the guy sitting acrosss me commented the table was quite low. It wasn't - it was actually quite high, in proportion to the chairs.
Before I dug into my food, I glanced outside the window and saw somebody carry a seal the cuff of its neck. That person walked to another person, and then swung the (live) seal at a plank of wood or something, and I was shocked.
Why this dream is weird:
1) chopper: I can't even drive a damn car for christssakes, much less fly and land a chopper; plus I've never in my life been on a chopper;
2) he-who-might-have-been-Liam: I haven't run into him since the end of last summer, and by Goddess, I don't want to ever run into him again;
3) seal: I read an article just this morning on seals, which gave me a jolt and reminded me of my dream; I've also never dreamt of seals before - and definitely have never seen one get whacked ...
I wish I could blame the cheese, but the only thing I had before I went to bed had been a Pacific Rose ...
