The First Day
07:50 - Cellphone alarm beeps.
Jolted into semi-consciousness. Suddenly remembered dream, and panicked - because in the dream, I was in a relationship with a Pākehā guy and everything felt normal. Guinevere Turner's character in Go Fish had said something along similar lines: worrying (or terrified) that The One for you would turn out to be male ... and it came true in my dream. (Please, no ...)
08:30-09:30 - Breakfast
Mussel pies suck. Irish Breakfast tastes horrible with milk.
09:35 - Uphill
No sun, Northwesterlies, above 10°C; warm and windy - nice. And, geez, there seems to be more and more students every new trimester (with the exception of the summer trimesters).
10:00-10:50 - ENGL 321 Old English
I can't believe it - The-Crow-turned-The-Birdcage doing Old English? I hope he's not talkative in class, because everytime he opens his mouth, I have the urge to laugh hysterically and kick myself in the ass because I just can't believe I once had a three-second flash-lust for him.
But - oh joy! - the major project for ENGL 321 is one of transcription and translation! I so look forward to doing the metrical charms and/or recipies.
11:00 - Student Notes
Sir Orfeo still not in. Phew. Won't have to wait in the fucking long line then.
11:15 - New World Metro
Still no long-grain brown rice. It was either buy the (ugh) medium-grain brown rice or eat (horror of horrors) egg noodles.
11:30-13:30 - Lounge and lunch.
Read Jane Haddan's Conspiracy Theory and made grilled cheese sandwich for lunch - Chinese-style (read: in a non-stick wok; I don't have a sandwich-maker).
Mental note: next time, buy Edam or cheddar; Colby is not tasty enough for grilled cheese sandwiches.
13:40 - Uphill
If I do this twice a day, three days a week, will I have a firmer ass and toner thighs?
[Not when you have grilled cheese sandwiches every day , sister.]
14:10-15:00 - ENGL 214 The Chivalric Quest From Chaucer To Spenser
Spotted Liz (one of the most beautiful girls I've ever had in any of my classes - other than The Exquisite April, of course - looks like a younger and lovelier Portia de Rossi, and is a true English Rose) outside of the Level 0 HM LTs, but - alas! - she wasn't waiting to enter HM 001.
Surprised and pleased to find Surin/Suryn/Surene taking ENGL 214; but only until Kathryn started the introduction to knights, Richard the Lionheart, and the fucking Crusades. Suddenly remembered Surin/Suryn/Surene is Carrie's friend from the ICF. Urk. Cell-groups ... Urk.
15:15 - Pick-up and run-in.
The former: the weekly copy of Salient in Kirk Bridge.
The latter: Jen, Alwyn and Chih, at Kirk. Tried my darndest to avoid Chih in the friendliest and least cold manner possible. (Prolly didn't work, because my face is more transparent than glass and I could never hide my feelings to save my own ass.) I can't get over my issue; from past experiences, I know it has to go away on its own.
15:35 - Official End Of The First Day Of The Trimester.
How do you spell boring?
