I Wonder

... which of the two would be more painful:

1. to love somebody who does and will not feel the same way about you; or



2. to be fond of someone, to care for them, and like them for who and what they are, and who and what they are not; somone who feels exactly what you feel for them ... about somebody else. A somebody else who does not feel the same way about them, who tries to mould and change the person you are fond of into what they are not. More than that, you can but watch the person you are fond of desperately trying to change into what that somebody else wants them to become.

And I don't ever want to find out first-hand.
