The Everyday Noose
As I got on the bus, I wondered if it were the same number 7 bus I took earlier in the morning to get to my destination.
Two stops later, a girl got on, and I recognized her: we had taken the same number 7 bus earlier this morning.
I think it's little coincidences like these that give everyday life a sparkle of the extraordinary, a glint of intrigue; at times, it almost seems to be a conspiratorial wink from life.
I don't know why, but to have one bus number 7 ferry me to two very separate and different - and on one level completely opposite - destinations, that seems ... paradoxical, really something else.
(If only I were brighter, or a deep thinker, I might be able to recognize what this could be an analogy for.)
On the other hand, what with everything in everyday life being a cycle, don't you feel the circularity of life, its cyclical nature - all those endless concentric circles - are drawing closer and closer like a noose around your neck?
