"Gymbo would be squashed," Jessica was saying as Fel stuffed the large clown dolls into a plastic bag.

"Actually, these are Gymbelle," Fel corrected Jessica. "Gymbo couldn't have worn a ribbon."

Jessica touched the large polka-dotted bow on a doll's yarn-hair. "Yeah, I was wondering about the ribbon."

"He's a faggot - ha ha!" Fel said and gave a short laugh.

Neither Jessica nor I laughed. Jessica smiled, and I just about managed one.

I remembered that I'd wished I had said something the last time, but I couldn't think of a single thing to say this time - what if I was just being too sensitive?

Does it count that Fel's comment made me feel uncomfortable?

I really hope none of Fel's three children turned out to be gay.
